a very-much, long-awaited post!

i don't know how i'm going to update y'all on our lives the past month.

i'll start with school. the semester has ended, and i have finished! i made pretty good grades, so i was happy with that. what i was not happy with was having 12 papers due for one class on may 13th. i will never ever be a procrastinator again. but, I DID IT! :)

also, the flood is here. it's been really crazy to see and watch over the past few weeks. many of you have asked if we're going to be flooded, and no, we're not. thank you for showing concern. i will ask you to pray for those who's houses, lives, and crops are damaged in all of this. it's pretty surreal and sad. i will post pictures on another blog of some flooding in the yazoo area.

Anywho, in the past month, we have celebrated both of our birthdays and our one year anniversary! i cant believe it. the 'hardest year' is over (HA, yea right), and i cant believe all of the things we've done and accomplished in that year. i wrote out every single memory i have from this past year for dane. it was so fun thinking back on all of the big and little moments. yes, i mentioned all 5 moves, dane's wonderful job, this great life we've established here in yazoo city, graduating from undergrad, starting grad school, dane surprising me with bea, and all of the tiny, little things in between. i won't share all of them with you :) all i know is that i'm a lucky girl for marrying a wonderful man. i get to love him everyday and i get to share my life with him. and i even get to do his laundry :) haha. i could go on and on about how much Dane means to me and how the Lord has blessed me and him and us together, but i will save that for another time.

Here are some pictures from our birthdays!

Dane surprised me with this on my birthday! I WAS PUMPED!! it's a window box herb garden (with some ferns, begonias, gardenias, and a cactus, too!) that now sits right under our kitchen window. my herbs have exploded! i have garlic chives, oregano, lemon thyme, italian parsley, rosemary, and dill. love love love love love!! thank you D for such a wonderful, awesome, thoughtful gift!

motay and von-gretel. our favorite. haha (kidding, Ann!)
Dane and Eddie lovin' time.

Happy Birthday to you!

My Best Frans

Well, I just finished a presentation and a final and with all of this school stress and worry about the flood, I have had a moment of appreciation for 3 people.  No, Dane is not one of them in this post, BUT I'm thankful for him everyday! I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce you to my 3 best friends.  A few posts back, I told you I'd dedicate a post just to them, so here it is! Now, I have other best friends that are super important to me.  However, these girls have been with me since day 1!

Courtney

Court and I laugh more together than anyone else.  She is hilarious, and I'm pretty sure I'm only funny when I'm around her.  Maybe that's why I got nominated for "Funniest" in high school--because I hung out with her constantly! Just in case you wanna know, Courtney and I were up for this award.  As a joke, they started calling my name as the winner and slid right into courtney's name... "And the winner is MMMM.....COURTNEY!!!"  It was hilarious! No I'm not even funny enough to win this.  She comes from a fun and loud family--crazy Italians.  She's sarcastic and a little loud and pretty much doesn't care.  She's an incredible athlete (she played soccer at Miami University!) and incredible friend.  She's an awesome writer and the queen of quotes.  We can quote the entire dumb and dumber movie...it's kinda ridiculous.  She's the one I always call when I'm bored or I need a pep in my step.  She's always entertaining, always caring, and always there for me.  I thank God for her every day.

Katie
She's my favorite ginger.  She has a heart of gold and is fun, smart, and beautiful. She's athletic, intelligent, and has inherited some amazing cooking genes!  Her family is so close and welcoming. I always feel like I can knock on the Ellis' door and be welcomed in with a glass of Chardonnay, some appetizers, and an amazing meal from Mrs. Ava. I will never forget the afternoons we'd go to her house and Ava would cook shrimp fried rice and we'd talk about all of the drama in our lives.  Oh man!  Katie is girly and crafty.  She's FUN!! She's been a United States traveler (has lived in FL, MS, went to Michigan State, moved to Nashville, and is not in D.O. school in Kansas City). I'm still trying to convince her to deliver my children one day.  She loves her family and her Callie and will one day be the greatest doctor ever. Even though her schedule is crazy from studying and being so involved at school, we never miss a beat. I love this girl and I thank God for her every day.

Carrie

(hahahahaha)
She was my maid of honor.  She's been my bestie since 6th grade. We've been in choir together for forever.  We used to sing together all of the time.... i miss that currie kurk! She's a spiritual mentor for me.  At any time I'm questioning a verse or need her advice, she's there.  She has grown by leaps and bounds in her faith and has become fully committed to God's word.  She's inspiring and always happy.  We make fun of her for always being happy.... but it's just who she is!  In high school, Carrie was Miss Everything. HAHA! She got anything she tried out for, was homecoming queen and prom queen, won all kinds of awards at Mississippi College (like Miss MC) and is just 'that girl'.  We joke about it a lot, but I've come to realize that Carrie got those things not because she tried to or anything like that, but because Carrie is loved by everyone.  She reaches out to all people and is genuine about everything.  Our friendship hasn't wavered and I'm so thankful for her impact on my life. I thank God for her every day.

Thanks, girls, for being there since day one and for knowing more about me than anyone else.  Thanks for being the reason I go over my minutes on my cell phone haha. Y'all are the greatest friends an old married woman could ever have.  Thanks for never giving up on me and loving me past the insanity of my life.

reasons why it's been a while...

Hello friends and family!

I'm sorry that I have slacked on updating.  Life has been crazy!  We have moved into our new place, celebrated my 23rd birthday and Dane's 24th birthday, gotten bogged down with school and work insanity, gone to weddings, had family in town, and have been busy busy busy.  Also, we are celebrating our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY this weekend! WHAAAAAT?! Where has the time gone?! I cannot believe it. Marriage has been wonderful, hard, sanctifying, beautiful, rough, and more of a blessing than anything.  We have done so much in a year. My next post will not be until the end of May, seeing as I have many papers to write and finals to study for.  I just cannot justify spending time uploading pictures and writing posts when I have an overwhelming workload ahead.  Anyways, my last final is May 18th, and I will hopefully update the blog soon after that.  Thank you for being patient! Look forward to that post... It will contain pictures of our new place, our birthday celebrations, our anniversary, and our fast-growing pup Bea.  She is growing like crazy.  We have no idea what Bea is going to turn out like.  When we first got her she was plump and fuzzy and now she is a little fuzzy and so slender! She's growing faster than her calorie intake (lucky thing).  Anyways, pictures and awesome updates to come soon.  Until then, please pray for my finals and for Dane's work.  Also, please be thinking of the tornado victims and pray for the damage that might occur in our area (and around the Southeast) as a result of flooding.  Thank you Lord for this sanctifying year.  Thank you for the friends, jobs, schoolings, assignments (ehhh), trips, families, puppies, and Dane.

Love you all!

OUR NEW ADDITION! :)

Hello faithful followers! I want to introduce you to the new addition to the DeWeese house:

BEA!

Dane surprised me yesterday with a sweet little puppy that he found outside of his work. She the cutest stray ever! She's warming up to us slowly, but I have faith that she'll come around :) I couldn't decide whether or not to spell her name "Bea" or "Bee", but I like it this way.

Welcome to the family, Bea DeWeese!

Here are some pictures of our little one!
just doing a little sun-bathing
she loves afternoon walks with dad

more pictures to come, of course! :)

no updates too exciting.

school is awesome right now. you wanna know why i love RTS' MFT program? here's why: i came into the program in the middle of the year and so there wasn't a class to 'identify' myself with (i'll be a part of the class that comes in the fall!). however, there are 2 people that came at the same time, so we've gotten together and gotten to know each other. BUT, even though i don't have a class to identify with, i never felt that i wasn't a part of the group. everyone is kind, including, uplifting, encouraging, and downright hilarious. i LOVE this program!! i love the classmates and profs. i love what i'm learning. :)

now, everyone seems to have a 'wish list' theme going on. okay, i give in, i'm going to make one too! :)

1) a DOG! i mentioned it last post, but the closer and closer we get to moving into this house, the more i YEARN for a dog! i want one so badly i can taste it. unfortunately, i've gotten a little picky. i hate being picky. i want a puppy who will eventually be a BIG dog! :)

2) a bountiful garden! we're going to be planting soon, but i'm just hoping that i atleast get a vegetable or two! i'm nervous to see how this works out. not sure i know what to do at any given time. this past fall, i had bought some mums and was asking dane (green thumb) how often i should water them and stuff. he replied by telling me, "let them tell you". so apparently i'll be having conversations with my garden, making sure their comfortable and not hungry/thirsty. thank God for a husband who knows what he's doing (no pressure Dane!)

3) craft supplies. i want fabric glue, ribbon, little odds and ends so i can complete some projects that i have been thinking about. little things here and there so make our future house more 'home-y'.

4) photoshop. i want just the basic version so that i can do some cool filtering and processing on my pictures!

5) more cookbooks! i've read through all of my cookbooks multiple times and i think it's time to expand my collection. the one thing school has gotten in the way of is my reading of cookbooks! i miss it. i read them like a book and get great ideas. it's my way of learning, since we don't have cable to watch "food network" on.

6) a fun 2.5 weeks in april/may celebrating: my birthday! (4/15), Dane's birthday! (4/21), and our anniversary! (5/8). CANNOT BELIEVE WE'VE ALMOST BEEN MARRIED A YEAR. also, i can't believe we have lived in 5 different places since we've been married. i'm praying this next move is smooth.

7) a DOG! oh wait... already mentioned it.

Okay, for my next post i'm going to be making some no-sew burlap curtains and i'll (hopefully) show you my steps and how they turned out! i'm a little nervous to express my possible failure, but whatev. you'll love me anyways. i also need to start sharing recipes! i'll do that next time too :) happy almost weekend!

It's Time...

Okay faithful readers. It's time to tell you about what's going on in our crazy life.

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that we were moving again. YES, we're moving to the FIFTH (that's 5) place we've lived in since we've been married. As my friend AGENT Wellons Woods (soon to be Farmer) said when I told her we were moving again... "I could write a book.....". Oh man-- and this new place is going to be an entertaining chapter in that book.

SO- here's the story and God's providence for ya:

About a week or two after we moved into the apartment we're in now, our pastor Sam called Dane informing him that he'd found a RENT-FREE place to live. Yes, RENT FREE! Of course, we jumped on it! Who wouldn't move again for a rent-free place? WELL, long story short: we're moving there around the first week of April. To spare you the details, we've been doing a lot of work on it...cleaning and repainting and replacing carpet and whatnot. So you're probably wondering what's the catch, huh? WELL, we will be living at the boy scout camp and will be the caretakers. (I could write a book...). We will keep the place up and in return, we'll get to live there for free! All we have to do is cut the grass (aka Dane gets a tractor and he's not complainin'!!). Can't beat that! It has been a process though, not going to lie. The boy scouts have gotten some service hours helping us :) Pictures to come, but I can't bear to put up the before pictures without putting up the after pictures too. I just can't let you linger with these images without seeing the work that's been done. Needless to say, we're excited!! Here's what excites me most about living out there (keep in mind, it's on 52 acres and has a pavilion and a pond and a fire ring! woo!):

- we're planting a garden! YAY! Dane tilled it this week and I am BEYOND excited! I cant wait until we plant
-WE'RE GETTING A DOG!!! Okay, I've been asking for a dog for months and months and I'm FINALLY getting one! (Dane, it's on the internet now so it's official :)) I feel like I'm having a child or something. I have been searching and searching for dogs to adopt and we've come across a few. I won't be getting him/her until my birthday time (or atleast until we're officially in the house). YAAAY!!

So, besides all of that, we have been so so busy. Dane has been working long, long days (like, at least 12 hours and usually more) and it's been an adjustment to say the least. I am SO proud of him though. He works so hard and has such long days and still comes home and never complains. That's work ethic that I admire and hope to take after. I will say, I have so much pride in Dane. Seeing your husband work long days and provide for us brings me to a whole new love and admiration for him. I love him :)

Anyways, that's all folks! I'll leave you with a few pictures I've taken lately (who doesn't like pictures?)
one of our recent date nights. i took dane on a date! :)
sweet, sweet Cooper (look at that face!)
one of my favorite places everrr

CONGRATS!!

I am so excited and proud to announce that Sam DeWeese and Morgan Taylor are ENGAGED!

I am beyond excited for my incredible brother-in-law and wonderful FUTURE sister-in-law! I don't like saying "future" sister-in-law because, honestly, I've called her my sister-in-law since day one. She's one of the first of the DeWeese clan I met and she made me feel right at home (and she still does!). So SO excited for these two!
